Not sure about switching over your DSLR camera to mirrorless?
What are that actual pros and cons to owning a mirrorless camera?
I have been shooting Nikon for almost 10 years, starting out with the D3100, transiting to the D7100 and then the D610 to a D750 until I decided to shoot more video. So looking for more video capable gear was preferable.
After doing A LOT of research on switching all my DSLR gear to get better in-camera stabilization through the newest technology advances in mirrorless cameras. I was NOT disappointed.
I LOVE my Nikon z6’s (I SOLD all four of my DSLR’s because I loved them so much!)
My biggest apprehensions about getting into mirrorless was the lack of gear AND the lack of ruggedness.
I was SO afraid of gear that was not going to hold up the long hours of weddings. I had heard that their battery life wasn’t going to last.
I was pleasantly surprised- I was able to do a few hours of continued video and photo without having to change.
I wish that Nikon had more lens choices at the time of purchase, so I had to buy the lens adapters that whirr and chug with video. I got around that with external audio microphones. Now, they have more choices and silent motor options.
I had too much invested in NIKON to switch entirely I over to SONY- since I use all three of my cameras and 6 lenses when I shoot weddings.
But overall, the speed, the ability to go SILENT during ceremonies, the in-canera video stabilization and the image sharpness was SO worth switching.
If you are getting into VIDEO, then mirrorless is the way to go!
